
Talisadi Churna is a powder preparation made mostly consisting of vamsa-lochana, trikatu herbs(three spices) and sugar. This preparation is mostly used for treatment of various respiratory and gastro-intestinal disorders. Talisadi churna is also called as Talisadi Choornam, Talisadi Powder.
Formulation composition:
1. Talisa — Abies webbiana (Leaf)— 12 g
2. Marica — Piper nigrum(Fruit)— 24 g
3. Sunthi — Zingiber officinale (Rhizome)— 36 g
4. Pippali — Piper longum (Fruit) — 48 g
5. Vamsa-locana (Vamsa ) — Bambusa bambos — 60 g
6. Ela (Sukmaila ) — Elettaria cardamomum(Seed) —6 g
7. Tvak — Cinnamomum zeylanicum (Stem Bark) —6 g
8. Sarkara — Cane sugar — 384 g
Method of Preparation:
Powder separately ingredients numbered 1 to 8.
Weigh separately each powdered ingredient and mix together in specified ratio and prepare a homogeneous blend. After this Creamish white fine powder with pleasant odour and a sweet, spicy and pungent taste is obtained.
Pack it in tightly closed containers to protect from light and moisture.
Therapeutic Uses Of Talisadi Churna:
This preparation is mainly used in dry cough. The aggrevated vata or pitta dosha suppress the kapha dosha as a result cough occurs without sputum resulting to dry cough. This preparation suppresses pitta dosha and liquefies the sputum resulting, relief from dry cough. This is also used in swasa(asthma).
This preparation is also used in various gastrointestinal disorders like chardi(vomiting), adhmana(flatulence with gurgling sound), jwara (fever), Grahani (malabsorption syndrome), aruchi(anorexia), Atisara (Diarrhoea), Ajirna (indigestion), sotha (Cachexia), Pliharoga (Splenic disease), panduroga(Anaemia).
Dose: 1-3 gram two times a day or as directed by the physicians.
Anupana: Honey, warm water.
Side-effects:
In increased dose, this preparation may cause burning sensation due to presence of trikatu.
This preparation should not be used by diabetes patients, as it contains sugar.
